A Story of Cancer & Faith
By Tina

When you hear, you have cancer, your mind becomes numb at first. The reality sets in after a while. Am I going to die? What about my children, my family ,my friends? The flood of tears. Will the tears ever stop? Waking up in the middle of the night crying, actually feeling like there is no tomorrow. Did I do something wrong? Guilt, maybe if I did things differently this would not have happened? What did I do to deserve this. Why me. Why God? Well, I don't know if we will ever know the why's to everything in this life. Do we really have to know them? It is not an easy task, to face Cancer. When it does strike, you have to face it. You need faith. You need hope, You need trust , You need strength. You need courage. You need God. Then you will have Peace.

Fear is a terrible thing to have to deal with. "Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me." ( Psalms 55:5) God is the only one that can take away that fear. Have Godly fear. "The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death ( Proverbs 14;27) Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. ( Psalms 2:11) Fear turned into reverence for the Lord, and trembling with fear, turned into trembling with delight. Delight? I have cancer. Why should I rejoice and be delightful. Faith, enables you to delight in the Lord even in the worst of circumstances. "Everything is possible for him who believes" ( Mark 9:23) "Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water." (Hebrews 10:22) With faith comes hope. Giving you confidence, assurance, optimism, being able to place yourself in the hands of God.

Hope is a hard one sometimes, because you have this negative little voice in your head always telling you its not going to work out. You have nothing left to hope for. Just give up. Who do you think you are, someone special that God will help you? Fight that little voice, with all your might. "Blessed is he whose help is in the Lord God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them-the Lord, who remains faithful forever." (Psalms 146:5-6)

Can I trust my Lord, to help me face this problem? Can I really trust him to ease this feeling of death that has come over me? "Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead." ( 2 Corinthians 1:9) He will uplift you spiritually so that you do rely on Him completely.
