THE ORIGIN OF THE DEVOTION IMMACULATE MARY

 

I first met Father Slavko while in Medjugorje in 1997, he spotted me in the crowd with my guitar and beckoned me forward with his hand and said in his own inimitable way 'You, come play a song for us," this was before one of his talks. behind Saint James church in the marquee. So I sang very nervously this song Immaculate Mary, that I had written  while in Medjugorje, and in fact written that same day.  He then invited me to sing it inside Saint James church the following day, that was a wonderful experience. although I was a bit nervous, with 700 people in the congregation. i was instantly inspired and moved by a young woman in a wheelchair at the front with her parents, although she could not see me, and was severely  paraplegic she listened and smiled in such a way, it even moves me now to think back to that wonderful day, if you were in the church that day, let me know. My experience on that first visit was amazing, i met Fr Slavko a couple of years later by coincidence in England he was with Jelena in Mount Saint Bernards Abbey where i was requested to sing the song to Jelena in the abbey itself. I am sure Jelena would like any song dedicated to the Blessed Mother but i was pleased she listened to mine, thanks to my friend Sister Rosalie who requested i sing. I will be going to Medjugorje in June but have not set the date as yet.
