National Geographic called Mother Mary the most powerful woman in the world. Why?

In their December issue, a 20-page feature spread was dedicated to her apparitions and miracles around the globe these past 500 years.

Why would Mother Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, a woman who dwelt on earth a mere 60 or 70 years, 2,000 years ago, suddenly grace the front cover of National Geographic in our time and space?

Again, we should ask why?

Is it because she is appearing in Medjugorje, Croatia, these past 34 1/2 years, daily?

I would think so. Maybe it’s time the world started taking these apparitions seriously, and mending our lives one at a time, or maybe on Mass.

These appearances have occurred longer than Jesus Himself walked the face of this earth.

Never before has Mother Mary appeared to her faithful on a daily basis. She appeared two times, to Juan Diego, in Mexico, in December 1531 to prevent a major catastrophe and converted over 14 million people over the next few years. There she became known as Our Lady of Guadeloupe, or the Queen of the Americas, from Argentina to Alaska.

In 1858, she appeared 10 times to Bernadette Souberous, in Lourdes, France, and identified herself as the Immaculate Conception, to confirm a Dogma declared by the Roman Catholic Church in 1854. Here, miracle healings have occurred in the numbers too numerous to count, of which 67 have been authenticated by doctors and the church after careful and scrupulous investigations. These are still happening today.

In 1917, she chose a town named after Mohammed’s daughter, Fatima, in Portugal, to warn us of Communism, and Nazis, and another major war on the horizon if we did not convert. The Second World War broke out in 1939.

In the late 1970s and early eighties, Mother Mary appeared to a few young girls in Rwanda, Africa to warn the people about a festering resentment stirred up by colonizing countries, between the Hutus and Tutsis, two tribal clans, both Catholic.

The warnings were “repent and convert, forgive and love your neighbours” or there will be major consequences. For 100 days in 1994, Hutus slaughtered 900,000 Tutsis - a massive genocide - while the world stood by and witnessed. This was neighbour against neighbour, Catholics against Catholics, a massive diabolical plot.

At the same intervals of apparitions in Rwanda in June 1981, Mother Mary began appearing to six children in Medugorje, Croatia, in an attempt to prevent the war of ethnic cleansing between three ethnics groups in Yugoslavia. Again, not enough people heeded the message and again, another slaughter.

The difference this time is the war is over but Mother Mary is still appearing to those visionaries, 35 years later. To some, once a month, to a few daily, as they travel the globe taking their message of repentance, love, salvation and prayer to other nations.

We, in this country as in any other, we are not immune to these resentments among us, refugees, immigrants, natives, French, English, religious, protestants, Catholics, skin heads and drug gangs, all these are potential reasons for mass killings. Not to mention now terrorism.

Mother Mary obviously has been sent by the Father and the Son, Jesus, to bring repentance, healing and love to us all, through the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, who wishes to lead us all home.

Nation after nation has experienced flooding, earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons, terrorism and financial disasters. We are not immune. Let’s seek, ask and find the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Mother Mary’s identifying name in Medugorje, is Our Lady Of Peace. May Mother Mary lead you to Jesus for that final everlasting peace.
