The Glorious Mysteries

(step by step)

Said on Wednesdays, and Sundays.

Hold the cross in your hand and make the Sign of the Cross.

1) In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Now say the "Apostles Creed."

2) I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

Hold the bead closest to the cross and say the "Our Father."

3) Our Father, Who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.

On the next three beads repeat the "Hail Mary."

4) Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

In the space after the last Hail Mary bead and before the next bead say the "Glory Be."

5) Glory be to the Father and the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

On the next bead, announce the First Glorious Mystery. (The First Glorious Mystery is,) The Resurrection.

6) It is the dawn of the third day, the body of Christ lay silent and lifeless within the tomb. Suddenly a shrouded figure casts off a winding robe and shines forth in glory an omnipotence. An angel moves the large stone blocking the entranceway. A Roman guard lay stunned and terrified. He has risen. He has said, Alleluia.

Now say the "Our Father."

Our Father, Who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Proceed to the first set of ten beads. Say ten "Hail Mary’s," while meditating on the First Mystery.

7) Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

On the space after the set of ten Hail Mary beads and before the next bead say; "Glory Be."

8) Glory be to the Father and the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
