Devotional Intercession Prayer, to Canonization Shepherds of Fatima

There are 4 steps to Canonization. The seer must be dead and there must be cause to show reason for consideration. The first step: the declaration of Servant of God. For this declaration there is no need for a miracle, just a study of their lives showing nothing reproachable after their last conversion, if they had been sinners before. The Second step: Venerable Servant of God. For this step there is no need either of a miraculous cure, but only a study to determine their heroic virtue. The third process is called, "Beatification." Beatification is from the Latin word beatus, meaning blessed. This is recognition of a dead person's entrance into Heaven and capacity to intercede on behalf of earthly individuals, who pray in his or her name. This process of beatification is also know as, "intercession of saints." This step requires proof of a miraculous healing. Canonization is the 4th and final step. Canonization is undeniable documented proof that living individuals have received a miraculous cure though intercessory prayer. This means a second miraculous healing is needed.

Upon completion of an acceptable outcome of beatification, the seer or seers are given the title, "Blessed." If miraculous events are later found to surround that "Blessed" seer, through prayerful intercession, the title of "Blessed" is elevated to the title of "Saint."

On May 14, 2017, Pope Francis made the pilgrimage to the apparition site of Fatima, Portugal where 6 apparitions took place to 3 children between May and October 13, 1917. His visit was to celebrate the 100 anniversary of the Fatima, apparition and to canonize two of the young shepherd children. This page was original a prayer for the cause of Canonization of the little Fatima shepherds. Now the children have been canonized we have altered this page but still recommend this hopeful prayer for intercession from us to the Fatima children.

In the third quarter of 2012, I was asked by Fatima, Portugal sources to pray for my healing though the intercession of Jacinta and Francisco. I accepted this invitation even though I do not need to be healed to believe in God. "I do not count my suffering but I count my blessings and I pray for those who do not believe in God, because they have the greatest sufferings of all." Even so, if it is the will of God, I accept healing through intercessory prayer though the names of the Little Shepherds.

For those such as myself who have a long history of devotion to the Fatima apparitions and also suffer from affliction, I would ask them to consider intercessory prayer to Saint Jacinta and Saint Francisco Matos.

I have written a small prayer you may consider reciting or make a prayer all your own asking intercession.

Intercession Prayer to the Little Shepherds

Today I call on all heavenly hosts through the intercession of the Little Fatima Shepherds, Jacinta and Francisco Matos. Be it the will of God for just cause, let me be healed of affliction. I ask this for the greater glory of God, in thanksgiving for the canonization of the Little Shepherds and that I may continue service in the fields of the Lord.  Amen.
