A Letter of Thanksgiving to POW Members
By Michael K. Jones (founder of the POW Prayer Group)

Over 3000 Member Strong as of December 5, 2011

Dear POW Prayer Group,

All I knew was that Our Lady of Medjugorje said in Her July 21, 1982, message, "Concerning Purgatory: There are many souls in Purgatory. There are also persons who have been consecrated to God - some priests, some Religious. Pray for their intentions, at least the Lord's Prayer, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be seven times each, and the Creed. I recommend it to you. There is a large number of souls who have been in Purgatory for a long time because no one prays for them."

Reading this message, I knew I wanted to offer prayers for Purgatory souls because many have no one to pray for them. By January of 2000, the POW Prayer Group was formed. I never would I have dreamed that the day would come when I would be writing this letter thanking almost 1000 members for their commitment to the POW group and the souls in Purgatory, who desperately need our prayers.

Saint Padre Pio told us, "The Holy Souls are eager for the prayers of the faithful which can gain indulgences for them. Their intercession is powerful. Pray unceasingly. We must empty Purgatory!"

(2 Machabees Chapter 12 verses 38-46) tells us, the importance of praying for the dead. Verse 46 ends by saying, "It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins." (Catholic Edition)

Vicka told me some years ago that Purgatory was a vast space where there were many people in the darkness because God was not present there. Some were closer to the light and other in full darkness because of their sins. Our Lady goes there often bringing these poor souls comfort. Their sufferings are great because separation from God is the greatest suffering.

Did you know that a moment in Purgatory is more painful than a whole lifetime on earth? Did you know that souls in Purgatory can not pray for themselves? It is through the prayers of those living on the earth that helps free souls in Purgatory. Did you know that when Purgatory Souls go to Heaven they pray before the throne of God for those on earth who prayed for them? So for this be assured that many good things come from a commitment to pray for these souls who can not pray for themselves.

There are many different devotions we can offer the suffering in limbo. Stations of the Cross and Gregorian Mass are but a few. There is also a powerful prayer that our Lord told St. Gertrude which we are told will free 1,000 souls from purgatory each time it is said.

The Prayer of St. Gertrude
Eternal Father, I offer you the most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, in union with Masses said today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen

Still despite all the different devotion for Purgatory Souls, Our Lady of Medjugorje tells us that there are many souls remaining in Purgatory that have no one to pray for them. So, Our Lady recommended to us, 1 Creed, 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Mary's and 7 Glory Be's. This recommendation of Our Lady is what the POW (Purgatory Oblation Warrior) Prayer Group is all about. POW members pray for these souls who have no one to pray for them.

There are no words to express to the POW members how much I thank each and every one of you for joining me in this wonderful uplifting and dedicated commitment to release all souls from Purgatory. We certainly will receive many blessing and treasures in the Kingdom, that will follow us all our days in eternity.

In the Unending Love of Gospa
